Barron Hilton Is Back On The Road After 2008 DUI Conviction

Los Angeles drivers may have another thing to be afraid of. Barron Hilton, the younger brother of Paris Hilton, got his driver's license back earlier this week.

The 20 year old had his license suspended in 2008, after he pleaded no contest to a DUI charge. He was placed on three years probation and was not able to drive for a full year. On Tuesday, Hilton took had to re-take the written portion of the driver's test, but passed. Now he's back on the road.

It seems as though DUIs have become the norm in the Hilton family, but Barron was arrested for driving under the influence when he was just 18 years old. The state of California has serious rules for those who drink and drive before the age of 21. Those who are convicted of a DUI under the age of 21 will not be able to drive for a full year, even with a first time DUI conviction. This is a significantly greater amount of time than those convicted over the age of 21. In addition, the DUI offenders under 21 can also receive probation, fines, an alcohol education program, and possibly jail time. However, many first time DUI offenders are often able to avoid being held in jail for a significant period of time if they have a skilled Los Angeles DUI defense lawyer on their side.

Hopefully Barron Hilton will be able to drive safely on the Los Angeles roads in the future. His family seems to be pretty excited about him getting his license back. TMZ reports that his dad even gave him a 2010 Mercedes E550 Coupe as a reward for getting his license back. That's a very generous way of rewarding a kid for getting a DUI.
