The LAPD will be out in full force this weekend, conducting multiple L.A. DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout the city. The message is clear: drive impaired and you will likely get caught.
Instead of trying to work your way around the following DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols, your best bet will be to not drink and drive or find alternative means of transportation:
- Friday, December 2: DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Lincoln Boulevard at Maxella Avenue in Los Angeles from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
- Saturday, December 3: DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Cahuenga Boulevard at Broadlawn Drive in Los Angeles from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
- Sunday, December 4: DUI saturation patrol in the Harbor Area from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Although the LAPD is nice enough (and required by law) to publicize upcoming DUI checkpoints and DUI patrols, it’s not to help you avoid them. DUI checkpoints have been proven to be an effective DUI enforcement tool that decreases crashes involving alcohol by an average of 20 percent, according to the LAPD. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has also found DUI checkpoints to be the most effective DUI enforcement strategy.
The locations of the DUI checkpoints and saturation patrol are not a coincidence either. They are specifically placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for deterring drunk and drugged driving.
If you still don’t heed the message about not drinking and driving and are caught in a DUI checkpoint or by a DUI saturation patrol, an experienced Los Angeles DUI attorney may be your best bet to avoid a DUI conviction.
