Actor Ryan O’Neal’s son, Griffin, and his troubled run-ins with the law have been the focus of a lot of news stories lately. Earlier last month, Griffin was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery.
Last week, Griffin was sentenced to 16 months in jail after pleading guilty to two felony counts of drugged driving and gun possession charges last November, reports Digital Spy.
The charges stem from an August car crash in which Griffin drifted into oncoming traffic in San Pasqual, smashed head-on into a van, and injured the driver. He reportedly faced four years in prison for his crimes. He was supposed to be sentenced in January but missed the hearing because he was in rehab for his alcohol issues, according to Digital Spy.
Griffin is not the only member of the O’Neal clan who has had trouble with the law, however. His half-brother Redmond O’Neal was arrested last year on drug charges after Santa Monica police found heroin in his car. Coincidentally, his arrest occurred hours before Griffin’s accident.
(It’s getting hard to keep all of the O’Neal kids’ criminal records straight.)
At the time of his arrest, Redmond was already on probation for a felony drug charge stemming from his attempt to smuggle drugs into a jail facility.
