More DUI checkpoints! With St. Patrick’s Day fast approaching, local and state authorities are stepping up their game in an effort to crack down on drunk drivers. There have been several announced DUI checkpoints for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
Counties across the Los Angeles region are setting officers in place for the festivities. Here are just some of the Los Angeles area DUI checkpoints this weekend:
The California Highway Patrol has announced a DUI checkpoint in unincorporated southwest Riverside County, reports Patch.com. There is also a scheduled checkpoint on Friday, one day before St. Patty's Day, in Murrietta, by local police.
According to a press release by San Bernardino County, there will be a checkpoint in Chino Hills this weekend. This checkpoint is part of the "Avoid the 25 DUI" campaign of San Bernardino County. Additional officers will be deployed on overtime this St. Patty's Day weekend, and will focus on drinking hotspots throughout the county.
The Moreno Valley Police Department will be conducting a DUI and License checkpoint on Friday, March 16. The checkpoint, according to a press release by Riverside County Sheriff's Department, will be held at an undisclosed location between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m.
Those living in Arcadia need to be extra cautious. The Arcadia Police Department Traffic Bureau has announced that it will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and license checkpoints throughout the area on Friday. The police department will also be conducting a DUI Patrol on Saturday, March 17.
There will likely be more DUI checkpoints announced over the next day or so. Be aware if you plan on drinking this weekend. Find a designated driver if you must. And if you do plan to drink and drive, perhaps you need to have the phone number of a Los Angeles DUI attorney in your speed-dial before you hit the pubs.
